The Volkswagen Campervan – instantly recognisable, just the right size to drive and park easily. vwcamperhire.com is a small family business based near the New Forest in Hampshire which hires out classic VW campervans for holidays, but also for weddings,
The website is simple to use, and has the friendly feel of a company who will go the extra mile for good personal service, and are passionate about what they do. It uses both photos and line drawings to conjure up a retro feel which goes well with their product.
Pick up service
The company offers many extras, and try to make it as easy as possible to hire their vans without fuss. They will deliver the van you have hired if you are only a short distance away, or meet you from the train station or just welcome you with a smile at their premises, where you can leave your own car safely.
Included in the hire price is comprehensive self drive insurance to include one driver with no endorsements on his or her licence, (subject to terms and conditions). A maximum of three drivers can be included for an additional small charge. Breakdown cover and recovery is also included.
Extras as required
Every van comes with a free awning if required, extending the size and giving a little more outdoor coverage and freedom, or even offering the chance for a fifth person to holiday in the van and sleep outdoors. If you would like bike racks, they can be fitted for you before you collect the van, and all other equipment such as fridge, cooker, heating, crockery, cutlery, utensils, tea towels and other pots and pans are supplied – just bring bedding and towels – and a torch!
Unlimited miileage is included – just fill up the tank before you bring the van back – a map of local petrol stations is included. This means you can take your time, relax and enjoy the freedom of the open road in a classic VW campervan, whether you want to take the van on a retro style road trip to Devon, Cornwall, the Lake District, or wherever the mood takes you!
Time to drive
They offer holidays as long weekends or a full week – it’s your choice. They are also honest about driving the vans – they come from the 60s/70s so there is no power steering or power assisted brakes. They were built for a speed of about 50/55mph – not speedy or for long distances. However, once you have got used to the different way of driving, the vans are actually fun to drive.
The company is a champion of recycling, giving recycling bags and bins, donating to the Woodland Trust, cutting back on emissions and giving tips on how to ‘keep it green’.
They are dog friendly, providing bowls and treats and poop bags.
They offer ideas for places to visit locally.
They offer ideas for recommended campsites locally and nationally.
A personal and friendly service, with real people on the other end of the phone if required, allows easy booking – everything for your perfect holiday can be arranged in minutes.
